How to delete your Google Account and data

Before you delete

• Use Google Takeout to download anything you need. Downloading a copy does not delete the data held by Google.
• Review the services and subscriptions attached to the account. Deleting the account can remove access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Play purchases, and other content.
• If you only want to remove one service or activity history, use Google's service-specific deletion controls instead of deleting the whole account.

Delete your Google account

1. Open your Google Account and choose Data & privacy.
2. Scroll to Your data & privacy options, then choose More options and Delete your Google Account.
3. Review the account data and services that will be removed, then enter your password when asked.
4. Confirm the acknowledgements and select Delete Account.

What happens next

Google says deleting the account removes the account's emails, files, calendars, photos, and other content. It also removes access to services that use that account, so check purchases and subscriptions before confirming.

Google may retain limited information for security, fraud prevention, legal, or financial reasons. If you only deleted an activity or service, some data can remain under Google's separate retention rules.
