Discord queues an account for deletion rather than removing it instantly. Delete the account from User Settings and avoid logging in during the restore window.
Before you delete
- Request your data from User Settings, Data & Privacy. Discord says a data package can take up to 30 days to prepare.
- Transfer or delete servers you own and cancel Nitro or other subscriptions separately.
- Download files or messages you need. Deleting the account can cancel an outstanding data request.
Delete your Discord account
- Open Discord User Settings and select My Account.
- Choose Delete Account and enter the password or verification details Discord requests.
- If you own servers, transfer ownership or delete them first.
- Confirm deletion and do not log in during the 15-day restore period.
What happens next
Discord says an account is deleted after a 15-day waiting period and can be restored during that period. Identifying information can take longer to disappear from backups, and some messages or shared content may remain anonymised.
If you request data first, wait for the data package before deleting. Discord says deleting the account can cancel an unfulfilled data request.
