Airbnb offers deactivation and permanent deletion. Deactivation hides an account; permanent deletion removes the personal data Airbnb can delete after its required checks.
Before you delete
- Request a copy of your Airbnb data from Privacy & sharing if you need reservations, messages, or account records.
- Resolve upcoming trips, payouts, refunds, and host or guest obligations before deletion.
- Have an identity document ready. Airbnb can require identity verification before completing a deletion request.
Delete your Airbnb account
- On the Airbnb website, open Menu and choose Account settings.
- Open Privacy, then choose Delete your account.
- Select the country and reason, complete identity verification if requested, and continue.
- Confirm permanent deletion rather than deactivation.
What happens next
Airbnb says permanent deletion cannot be reversed or recovered. The account and personal data are removed after the request is processed, while some payment, fraud, safety, or legal records may be retained.
Deactivation is temporary and can be reversed. Choose it only if you want to hide the account without permanently deleting it.
